Common Courses for All Students (All Years)
These common courses for all students are designed to cultivate broad knowledge and practical skills that serve as a foundation for studying and practicing Happy Science Studies. Through these courses, students develop the fundamental abilities needed to play active roles in various fields.
Students can freely select courses from each category according to their interests and areas of focus.
Q. How are classes conducted?
The format of classes at HSU is similar to that of general universities in many respects. For example, each class session is 90 minutes, courses are offered in both lecture and seminar formats, and students are evaluated through examinations and reports at the end of each semester.
Unlike in middle and high school, students are expected to choose their own research topics, pursue their studies independently, and create their own course schedules, as is common at other universities. In addition, a distinctive feature of HSU’s courses is that students can learn the essence of various academic fields from the perspective of Buddhist Truth.
HSU is “Japan’s first full-fledged private institution of higher education,” and especially in courses related to Happy Science Studies, students engage deeply with the lectures and scriptures of Master Ryuho Okawa. One of the unique aspects of HSU is the opportunity for students to encounter the spirit and wisdom of Buddhist Truth during lectures, which may inspire profound emotional responses and create moments of shared appreciation among students.
